Jalisco Takes a Stand Against Liconsa

The dairy producers in Jalisco are voicing their dissatisfaction with the federal body's handling through their subsidiary, Liconsa. The primary complaint is the agency's lack of commitment to timely payments. Producers have decided to take a decisive step by mobilizing in a mass protest that involves blocking roads and train tracks. This action is driven by significant delays in subsidy payments, with Liconsa being behind by three weeks in some regions.

Producers from regions such as Meoqui have already started their protests, having blocked federal highways for nearly 12 hours, which resulted in securing payments for just one week's subsidies. The protest reflects the dairy farmers' frustration with Liconsa's insensitivity, given their mounting expenses, such as fodder, fuel, and salaries, which continue to rise without timely remittances.

Collaboration with dairy producers from other parts of Mexico, who are facing similar challenges, highlights the systemic nature of the issue, pushing these communities to join forces for nationwide protests. Despite the inconvenience posed by such protests, farmers argue that this is a necessary step to draw attention from an otherwise unresponsive federal government.
