InLac and MAPA Sign New Agreement to Boost Spanish Dairy Sector

The Dairy Interprofessional Organization (InLac) has signed its sixth collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in Madrid. This agreement serves as a framework for cooperation in key activities to promote, sustain, and strengthen the dairy sector in Spain.

Main Goals

The agreement primarily aims to foster the consumption of milk and dairy products, promote sustainability and animal welfare, and encourage research and innovation within the industry. It includes actions such as conducting communication campaigns highlighting the benefits of dairy products and integrating the sector into MAPA's promotional strategies.

Collaborative Efforts

The parties will cooperate in strengthening the dairy value chain, sharing information and best practices, and ensuring its optimal functioning. The agreement also promotes new laboratory techniques at the Agroalimentary Laboratory of Santander to enhance the quality and reliability of dairy products on the market.

Ana Rodriguez Castano, Secretary General of Agricultural Resources and Food Safety at MAPA, and Javier Roza, President of InLac, emphasized the benefits of the agreement.

Javier Roza noted the strategic importance of the sector, which generates over €12.7 billion annually and provides more than 70,000 direct jobs. The comprehensive collaboration with MAPA aims to benefit the entire dairy value chain, including farmers, cooperatives, and industries.

Additional Activities

The agreement also focuses on informing consumers about the differences between plant-based and dairy products, improving labeling laws for transparency, and accelerating export procedures to boost the presence of Spanish dairy products in international markets.

InLac and MAPA affirm their commitment to developing a robust, sustainable, and competitive dairy sector for the benefit of consumers and Spanish society as a whole.
