Indian state transfers 685.1 million rupees to 106,063 dairy farmers
The payment covered 14,666,061 litres of raw milk supplied by rural producers belonging to 5,832 village dairy cooperative societies. The transfer was carried out through the Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (COMFED), whose principal consumer brand is Sudha.
Funds were credited electronically to individual beneficiaries’ accounts. The procurement payments form part of COMFED’s cooperative milk-collection system, which links village suppliers with chilling facilities and regional processing plants.
The newly inaugurated Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) monitors milk movements across that network. Its coverage extends from village collection sites to chilling infrastructure and the routes used by insulated tankers delivering milk to processing facilities.
The centre uses GPS tracking, route monitoring and cold-chain temperature telemetry to follow collection and transport operations in real time. Its monitoring functions cover milk travelling over extended rural routes, including during summer heat and humid conditions after the monsoon.
Digital collection records include milk intake volumes and automated measurements of fat and solids-not-fat content. These records support processing-plant intake planning and quality monitoring within a business whose retail products include liquid milk, ghee, paneer and fermented dairy foods.
The accompanying Sudha Sampark call centre provides a central contact point for dairy producers across Bihar’s milk-producing areas. Farmers can use the service for veterinary advice, help coordinating access to feed and the handling of complaints.
