The Head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan emphasized the crucial role of agricultural cooperation in Kazakh-Chinese relations, highlighting the growth in trade of agricultural products between the countries. In 2023, the volume of agricultural product turnover increased by 1.6 times, reaching over 1.3 billion dollars. In recent years, there has also been an increasing demand in China for organic and environmentally friendly agricultural products from Kazakhstan. The export of agricultural products to China almost doubled in 2023, amounting to 1.01 billion dollars.

Aidarbek Saparov highlighted the significant interest of the Chinese market for the export of Kazakh grain, with the potential to increase annual shipments to 2 million tons.

The Minister also requested Zhang Xiao's assistance in expediting the approval and signing of bilateral agreements for the export of new types of products in the current year, such as chilled meat, poultry products, by-products, beet pulp, and potatoes. He also appealed to the ambassador to help facilitate the accreditation of new Kazakh enterprises producing livestock products for export to China.

Aidarbek Saparov expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government for agreeing to transfer laboratory equipment for inspecting the quality of agricultural products and expressed readiness to discuss mechanisms for the prompt delivery of the equipment to Kazakhstan.

Zhang Xiao assured the minister that China is ready to cooperate in ensuring the continuous import of meat, grain, and other agricultural products from Kazakhstan. Additionally, he proposed taking control of the establishment of a Subcommittee on Agricultural Cooperation, which would facilitate joint visits and establish regular contacts between authorized agencies of Kazakhstan and China. The Charter for the Subcommittee has already been drafted, and the Chinese side suggested signing it at the meeting of the SCO member states' ministers, scheduled for May in Kazakhstan. Zhang Xiao also expressed readiness for joint construction of a modern meat processing plant in the North Kazakhstan region, equipped with new technologies.
