In October of this year, fertilizer imports from Russia to European Union countries nearly halved compared to the same period last year, according to Eurostat data analyzed by RIA Novosti.
Russian Fertilizer Imports to the EU Nearly Halved in October
The total volume of Russian fertilizer imports to the EU amounted to 58.9 million euros in October. This is a 1.97-fold decrease year-on-year, while monthly supplies remained almost unchanged.

Poland became the largest European importer in October, purchasing Russian fertilizers worth 15.3 million euros. Among the leading buyers were France (13.4 million euros), Germany (8.9 million euros), Spain (7.8 million euros), and Italy (3.9 million euros).

While some countries increased imports from Russia (France by 3.2 times, Germany by 2.9 times, Poland by 2.5 times), others significantly reduced their purchase volumes. Romania decreased imports by 71.5 times to 62 thousand euros, Italy by 3.6 times, and Belgium by 1.7 times to 1.7 million euros.

In the overall volume of fertilizer imports by the European Union, Russia dropped to the second place among suppliers, whereas a month ago it was in third place, and a year ago it was the leader. The Russian Federation's share in October was 11%, which is 2 percentage points lower than the previous month's figure and significantly less than the 23% recorded a year ago.

Egypt became the leading supplier of fertilizers to the EU in October, increasing its supplies by 2.5 times to 157.4 million euros. The top five suppliers also included Morocco (56.1 million euros), Canada (45.5 million euros), and the USA (43.4 million euros).
