Kazakhstan continues to be a major buyer of Russian dairy products, with imports totaling $184 million in 2024, making it the largest market for Russian milk and dairy exports.

Key Destinations for Russian Dairy Exports in 2024:
- Kazakhstan – $184 million
- Belarus – $67 million
- Uzbekistan – $35 million
- Azerbaijan – $18 million
- China – $18 million
The total volume of Russian dairy exports grew by 6% in 2024, while revenue increased by 19%. Analysts forecast that exports will remain at 1.1 million tonnes in 2025.
Kazakhstani farmers have repeatedly raised concerns about price dumping by Russian suppliers, which makes it difficult for local producers to compete. Unlike Kazakhstan, which plans to phase out direct subsidies for raw milk, Russia fully compensates 100% of logistics costs for dairy exports.
According to industry experts, Kazakhstan's dependence on Russian dairy imports is expected to persist for decades, given Russia’s subsidized logistics and lower production costs.
