Kumis Imports to Kyrgyzstan Exceed Exports by 12.5 Times
In the first nine months of 2025, 488,028 liters of kumis were imported into the country from EAEU states and third countries.
The volume of kumis exported abroad was only 38,936 liters.
It is specifically noted that transit shipments are not reflected in the documentation, so actual foreign trade flows may be even higher.
Kumis is one of the culturally significant traditional beverages of the region, but in recent years, Kyrgyzstan has shown a growing dependence on imports. The main reasons are the seasonality of production, limited raw material base, and small-scale industrial output.
