The Mercoláctea event in Uruguay is a significant gathering for the dairy industry, featuring salon activities, livestock exhibitions, and international delegations. It brought together producers, industry professionals, and the general public at Rural del Prado.

Over 550 students participated in educative sessions about the dairy breeds: Holando, Jersey, and Normando. Isabel Chiarino highlighted the genetic advancements in Normando as a dual-purpose breed, with notable participation of over 15 animals and exceptional performances by lactating cows demonstrating genetic progress. Normando's milk is particularly suitable for cheese production due to its high kappa casein content.

Across all discussions, there was a focus on future technological advancements and addressing generational shifts in farming practices.
