Guida-Seibert Dairy's New Britain Plant Closure to Impact 205 Jobs
Guida-Seibert Dairy Company has decided to permanently close its facility located at 433 Park Street, New Britain, Connecticut. The closure will impact 205 employees, as stated in a letter sent to city and state officials on May 21. This announcement is in compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
The company outlined that the layoffs at the New Britain facility will occur in multiple phases. The first set of layoffs is projected to start on July 20, or within a 14-day period commencing from that date. The complete closure of the facility is expected to be finalized on or before August 31.
Importantly, the affected employees will not have bumping rights. This indicates that they will not be able to replace or displace more junior employees from their positions due to the facility's closure.
