Guernsey Dairy Works to Replenish Ice-Cream Stocks Amid High Demand

Guernsey Dairy has been actively working to replenish its ice-cream stocks following a significant increase in demand during the recent warm weather. The demand during the half-term week resulted in ice-cream sales nearly quadrupling, contributing to an overall increase of 6.42% in ice-cream sales compared to the previous year.

Dave Domaille, the production manager at Guernsey Dairy, expressed delight at the strong response from both locals and visitors. He emphasized the importance of community support for local products, noting that the Dairy is central to the community.

During the half-term period, one kiosk located on the west coast made multiple trips to the Dairy, collecting 18 cases of four-litre catering tubs on three separate occasions, in addition to 36 more cases on the following Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Another kiosk selling Guernsey Dairy soft serve ice cream completely ran out of stock.

Mr. Domaille stated that the production team is now prioritizing the restocking of ice cream to ensure that the supply meets the demand. He noted that with the possibility of another hot spell during the summer, efforts are being made to ensure continuous availability of their popular ice cream products.

The Dairy also operates an ice-cream loyalty card scheme, which allows customers to receive a free ice cream after purchasing eight individual ones. These loyalty cards are available at Guernsey’s Information Centre and various participating cafes and kiosks around the island.
