Grupo Gloria Restructures After Acquiring Molfino

The Peruvian conglomerate Grupo Gloria has taken significant structural steps following its acquisition of the Argentine dairy company Molfino. The acquisition has resulted in a new ownership structure where Litrex S.A., part of Grupo Gloria, now holds approximately 80% of Molfino's capital, while Saputo Foods Limited retains around 20% as a minority partner.

This strategic move places the control and key decision-making processes firmly in the hands of Grupo Gloria. Despite the ownership changes, the merger has not yet altered Molfino's production levels, brand offerings, or its relationships with suppliers and customers.

The acquisition is seen as a major development in the regional food industry, enabling Grupo Gloria to integrate Molfino's industrial plants, distribution centers, and a vast network of dairy producers. These assets, coupled with Molfino's well-established brands among Argentine consumers, bolster Grupo Gloria's market presence.

Grupo Gloria has a diverse business portfolio that extends beyond the dairy sector, including operations in cement, sugar, paper, packaging, agribusiness, and transportation across several countries in the region. The acquisition aligns with the group's strategy to leverage Argentina's abundant raw materials, export traditions, and capacity to serve both domestic consumption and international markets in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

This expansion comes at a time when the Argentine dairy industry is recovering from a significant contraction between 2024 and 2025. Although consumer recovery remains uneven, companies in the sector are increasingly focusing on efficiency, profitability, and strengthening exports.

The entry of a financially strong new player like Grupo Gloria adds competitive dynamics to a market that already includes prominent companies such as Mastellone Hnos. (La Serenísima), Savencia, Adecoagro, Verónica, Punta del Agua, Milkaut, and Ilolay.

While the merger does not immediately change what consumers see on store shelves, it marks the beginning of a new chapter in Molfino's history under Peruvian leadership.
