Greek Desserta Hellas Plans Cheese Production in Kazakhstan

The Greek company Desserta Hellas intends to start producing cheeses and dairy products in Kazakhstan. Company representatives announced this during a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, Timur Sultanogozhin. The meeting took place in the context of growing trade in agricultural products between the two countries, which increased by 12% in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Minister Aidarbek Saparov emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties with Greece and noted the positive dynamics in cooperation. Kazakhstan already hosts 64 cheese production enterprises and 182 dairy processing enterprises with a total capacity of about 2.7 million tons of milk per year.

The government supports enterprises engaged in agricultural product processing by offering subsidies for raw material procurement, compensation of up to 25% of investment costs, interest rate subsidies on loans, and preferential financing of working capital at a rate of 5% per annum.

Representatives of Desserta Hellas expressed interest in establishing production facilities in Kazakhstan and developing long-term partnerships with local companies. The Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan confirmed the readiness to provide necessary support for the successful implementation of the project.

Previously, it was reported that an Iranian holding planned to build a cheese factory in Kazakhstan worth 35 billion tenge, indicating significant interest from foreign investors in Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex.
