The agreement was signed by the state administration, Leche para el Bienestar, a public company, and the livestock organisation GGAVATT Razas Puras del Norte de Chiapas. Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, the state governor, and the Secretariat of the Field led the state’s participation. The centre is intended to resume the formal collection of raw milk from producers in Juárez and nearby municipalities.

The northern Chiapas dairy basin includes Juárez, Reforma and Pichucalco. Farms in the area mainly use dual-purpose cattle systems suited to the humid tropics, producing both milk and beef. The reopened facility is expected to bring small farmers back into the official supplier register for the public social-supply programme after several months of operational uncertainty.

The receiving site has insulated storage tanks that can cool raw milk to 4°C after morning milking. Ambient temperatures in the area commonly exceed 35°C. Under the operating arrangement, the livestock group will manage the laboratory equipment and sampling procedures used to check milk density, fat content and acidity before the product is sent to processing plants.

The government’s guaranteed purchase scheme sets the payment at 11.50 pesos per litre. The collection point will operate alongside a regional market that includes informal intermediaries and small cheese producers, according to the report. The formal channel is designed to collect milk from scattered smallholdings and direct it into public-supply networks.

Farm costs have risen for mineral supplements, additional feed and veterinary medicines used against parasites and mastitis. Under the comodato arrangement, the organised producers receive custody and operational responsibility for the collection infrastructure rather than the state retaining direct day-to-day control. The agreement also covers coordination with public services and logistics in northern Chiapas’s oil-producing region.

Livestock leaders said that prompt weekly payments would be necessary to keep farmers delivering to the centre instead of selling to informal buyers. Local producer committees and agricultural authorities are expected to discuss an eventual increase in the facility’s daily intake capacity. The organisations also said that the collection point could affect economic activity in neighbouring municipalities and support generational renewal in farming.
