Goiás Milk Prices Rose 53.1% in 2026
Data from Cepea at Esalq-USP show that the price received by dairy farmers in Goiás climbed from R$1.92 per litre in January to R$2.94 in July. The national average rose from R$2.02 to R$2.88 over the same period, an increase of 42.6%. Goiás therefore recorded the faster rise during the first seven months of the year.
The state’s price moved above the national benchmark in June and remained higher thereafter. In July, the amount paid to producers in Goiás was 2.1% above the Brazilian average. The annual comparison also showed a wider increase in Goiás: from July 2025 to July 2026, the state’s price rose 15.7%, compared with 9.9% nationally.
Goiás is one of Brazil’s major milk-producing areas. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics’ Quarterly Milk Survey, dairies in the state collected 535m litres in the second quarter of 2026. That volume represented 8.1% of all milk collected in Brazil during the quarter.
The higher price and the scale of production were reflected in the estimate for the sector’s Gross Value of Production. Goiás’s 2026 milk VBP is projected at R$5.6bn, 24.4% above the initial estimate for the year. The national milk VBP is estimated at R$74.4bn, with an increase of 6.5% against its initial projection.
Market developments are being followed by Goiás’s Technical and Conciliation Chamber for the Dairy Chain, which is linked to the state Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. The body works on coordination between processors and farmers and monitors changes in the sector.
A monthly bulletin on Goiás’s dairy market tracks prices for products including UHT milk, milk powder, mozzarella, condensed milk and cream. These products form part of the demand monitored alongside the prices paid for raw milk.
