The Global Dairy Trade index remains unchanged at 1,251, with dairy prices showing mixed changes across different product categories.
Global Dairy Trade Index Holds Steady Amid Varied Dairy Sub-Index Shifts
The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index has remained stable following the latest auction, held on Tuesday, March 18.

The index stays at 1,251, representing an average price per metric tonne (mt) of €3,888.

This conversion reflects an exchange rate of approximately 91.6c per US$1.

Over the last 12 auctions, the index has had six increases, five decreases, and one unchanged result.

A total of 19,540mt of dairy products were traded. In terms of sub-index movements, mozzarella witnessed the most significant rise, increasing by 5.1% to €4,308/mt.

Other changes included a 1.1% rise in the butter index to €7,022/mt, a 1% increase in the cheddar index to €4,558/mt, a 0.5% increase in lactose to €1,067/mt, and a 0.2% rise in whole milk powder (WMP) to €3,711/mt.

Conversely, the anhydrous milk fat (AMF) index fell by 0.5% to €1,067/mt, and skim milk powder (SMP) decreased by 0.4% to €2,499/mt.

No changes were noted for butter milk powder (BMP). In domestic news, Dairygold has sustained its milk price for February at 50c/L, including bonuses and VAT, equating to a potential 55.26c/L for qualifying milk quality.
