These corporations, alongside more than 130 other businesses and financial institutions, have issued a collective call for the adoption and enforcement of policies aimed at halting and reversing nature loss within this decade.
This call to action has been formalized in a letter that incorporates the Biodiversity Plan from Business for Nature. The letter has been released in anticipation of the UN Biodiversity Conference scheduled to take place from October 21 to November 1 in Cali, Colombia.
The document sets forth five key policy recommendations designed to integrate nature conservation into business and financial sectors. These include mandates for businesses and financial entities to protect and restore ecosystems, ensure sustainable resource management to minimize environmental impacts, and incorporate the value of nature into corporate decision-making and financial disclosures.
Furthermore, the coalition advocates for aligning financial flows to support a transition to a nature-positive and net-zero economy and calls for the adoption or enhancement of ambitious global agreements to tackle the pressing challenges of nature loss.
