Germany has reported a new outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu on a farm in the eastern region of Saxony, close to the Czech Republic border, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The outbreak, which occurred in the town of Muldenhammer, resulted in the deaths of 76 out of a flock of 184 birds.
Bird flu, known for its devastating impact on poultry farms, continues to pose a serious threat to global agriculture. In recent years, the disease has caused widespread destruction of farm flocks worldwide. Health officials are increasingly concerned about the virus's spread beyond birds, with recent cases emerging in other animals, including dairy cows in the United States.
