Galicia begins 2025 with more milk production and a slight rise in prices

The Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA) has just published the report on milk deliveries and prices for January, confirming an increase in production compared to the same month in 2024 in Galicia, unlike the rest of Spain, and also a slight rise in prices compared to December.
The year begins with 9,326 cattle farms delivering milk in Spain, of which 5,212 are located in Galicia.
The state average price was 0.495 euros per liter—up from 0.494 in December—while the average price in Galicia was 0.473 euros per liter, against 0.472 in December, making the raw milk price difference 2.1 cents.
National deliveries in January totaled 624,323 tons, representing a reduction of 0.78% compared to January 2024.
In terms of milk quality, the national average in January was 3.94% fat and 3.43% protein. In Galicia, as usual, the milk solids were higher in fat at 3.99%, while the average protein levels were 3.42%.
The price of organic milk slightly decreased in January, reaching 0.618 euros per liter nationwide (0.619 in December), and in Galicia, the drop was steeper: 0.610 euros, down from 0.613 in December.
