Gadolando will award its Supreme Breeder title at Expointer

The Association of Holstein Cattle Breeders of Rio Grande do Sul, known as Gadolando, will present its Supreme Breeder distinction during the 49th Expointer. The ceremony is scheduled for September 3 at 7pm at the dairy-cattle judging ring.

Expointer will run until September 6 at the Assis Brasil State Exhibition Park in Esteio. The recipients will be Adair Baggio, Artur Ziglioli, Everson Bonatto, Leandro Delazeri, Marcio Tomazini, Tiago Dalla Vechia and Adilar Malaggi, together with Granja Dei Produttori Di Latte Brescia in Nova Bréscia, which is owned by Dália Alimentos cooperative.

The distinction is based on more than the appearance or performance of an animal in the judging ring. Applicants must keep their Holstein herd records up to date and complete Gadolando’s official services, including milk recording and linear conformation assessment. The system involves continued technical monitoring, production-data collection and the systematic classification of animals.

“We can only improve what we know,” said Marcos Tang, Gadolando’s president. He said the records support progress in milk output, solids and conformation. In his account, farms that combine herd registration, milk recording and morphological classification are the ones that reach the highest levels of the breed in Brazil.

Yago Machado da Rosa, Dália’s supervisor for dairy cattle, said the results placed the cooperative’s members among the country’s strongest performers. He said the award confirms their work on genealogical herd control and demonstrates the quality and management potential of the farms.

Gilberto Antônio Piccinini, chairman of Dália’s board, said the cooperative’s members have regularly recorded strong results in milk control and conformation assessment. This will be the first time that Granja Dei Produttori Di Latte Di Bréscia and the other seven producers receive the Supreme Breeder title. Piccinini attributed the recognition to both the producers’ work and the technical support provided by the cooperative.

Tang said the partnership between Dália and Gadolando has enabled more producers to join the breed’s official recording system. He added that some farmers consider the distinction nearly impossible to attain, while the Dália cases show that the required level can be reached through technical support and consistent data monitoring.
