Gaby Molina Advocates for Regional Financing Plan in Michoacán
During an informational assembly attended by over a thousand producers from nearly 50 municipalities, Gaby Molina, a candidate for the Coordination of State Defense in Michoacán, proposed a comprehensive financing scheme for the agricultural sector. The plan is designed to strengthen small and medium-sized producers through credit strategies developed in direct consultation with agricultural families.
Molina emphasized the importance of food sovereignty and self-sufficiency, aligning her proposal with historical agrarian reforms and the ejido system promoted by Lázaro Cárdenas. She highlighted the necessity of ensuring water rights for human consumption and agricultural activities, describing it as a fundamental pillar for the well-being of rural communities.
The meeting brought together representatives from Michoacán's ten productive regions, with key sectors in the livestock and agro-industrial chains being prominently represented. These included dairy and strawberry producers from Maravatío, dairy cattle farmers and blackberry growers from Tarímbaro, and cattle breeders from municipalities like Tiquicheo, Tuzantla, Tuxpan, Coalcomán, and Tangancícuaro.
The regional agenda also addressed large-scale agricultural crops and industrial inputs, such as corn and wheat growers from Nahuatzen and Hidalgo, guava fruit growers from Tuxpan, mango exporters from Tepalcatepec, and lemon citrus growers from Buenavista, Múgica, and La Huacana. The diverse production also included mezcal distillers from Senguio, lentil growers from Coeneo, and banana producers from the Aquila and Coahuayana areas.
This state-level financing platform aims to address the liquidity and working capital shortages that hinder investment in production units within the entity. If the credit and technical support program is implemented, it could enhance efficiency in Michoacán's dairy basins and local agricultural valleys, ensuring greater value addition at the source and consolidating the economic resilience of rural families.
