Funding for the Veterinary Pharmaceuticals Project in 2026 Has Been Canceled

The budget allocation for the federal project 'Veterinary Pharmaceuticals,' planned for 2026, has been completely cut. Originally, the allocation was 1.1 billion rubles. 'The specified budget allocations have been transferred to the reserve fund,' the document specifies. The reasons for halting the funding for the project in 2026 are not mentioned in the report.

This project is part of the national project 'Technological Support of Food Security'. Initially, approximately 4 billion rubles were planned for its implementation over the next three years. According to the initial calculations, 1.45 billion rubles were allocated for 2026, 1.08 billion rubles for 2027, and 705 million rubles for 2028.

When the federal budget was approved, these parameters were adjusted. As a result, 1.1 billion rubles were planned for 2026. In 2025, when the federal project was launched, the funding amounted to 726 million rubles.

According to the project, about 80% of the funds in each of the next three years were to be directed toward the creation and modernization of infrastructure for veterinary drug manufacturers. The remaining portion was intended to be used for the material and technical equipment of governmental educational and research institutions involved in developing such drugs.

The project's goal is to ensure that by 2030, 70% of livestock farming needs are met with domestically produced chemical-pharmaceutical veterinary drugs. The same report from the Accounts Chamber indicates that the budget for the state agricultural development program for 2026 has been increased by 9.1%, or 28.6 billion rubles, compared to the initially approved limit.
