Former Cosulati Suppliers Seek to Annul Cooperative's Asset Auction

A delegation of rural producers from the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul traveled to Brasília to request the annulment of the asset auction of the cooperative Cosulati, organized by its former management. The group, headed by state deputy Dr. Thiago Duarte, met with Hugo Carlos Scheuermann, a minister of the Superior Labor Court (TST), to present their case.

The producers' lawyer, Josino Silveira, clarified that their aim is not to halt the sale of the cooperative's assets but to ensure it is conducted transparently and in accordance with legal principles. This approach, they argue, would safeguard the interests of all creditors, including the milk suppliers to Cosulati.

The TST Minister, Hugo Carlos Scheuermann, listened to the producers' representatives and committed to examining the cooperative's sale process. Deputy Dr. Thiago Duarte emphasized that those who supplied milk to Cosulati fulfilled their obligations and should not suffer due to decisions made by previous management.

Reports suggesting that the producers' actions might harm former cooperative employees have been refuted by Deputy Duarte, who stated, "No one seeks to strip workers of their rights. Our goal is a just solution that also acknowledges the investments and trust placed in the cooperative by producers."

The delegation hopes for a balanced resolution from the TST that will uphold the recognized rights of Cosulati's workers while ensuring equitable treatment for the rural producers as creditors. Meanwhile, both the producers and their representatives await the judiciary's response regarding the asset sale proceedings.
