In March, Fonterra witnessed a 2.4% year-on-year decline in milk collection, amounting to 134.4 million kilograms of milksolids. However, the seasonal-to-date intake remained steady at 1,283.4 million kilograms of milksolids.
This decrease in March's output can be attributed to adverse weather conditions in the North Island, although it was partially offset by favorable conditions in the South Island.
In detail, milk intake in the North Island experienced a 9% year-on-year decrease, totaling 69.1 million kilograms of milksolids, thereby trailing the prior season comparable by 3.0%. Conversely, the South Island saw a 5.6% increase in milk intake, reaching 65.3 million kilograms of milksolids, with season-to-date collections standing 4.3% ahead of the previous year.
