First Milk Maintains June Milk Price Amid High Production Levels

First Milk, a dairy cooperative, has announced that it will maintain its milk price for a standard manufacturing litre at 30.75p, including the member premium, starting from 1 June 2026. This decision comes as milk production across the cooperative's membership remains high, particularly during the spring peak.

The cooperative has acknowledged the challenges posed by the increased production in terms of collection and processing capacity. To address potential issues of overcapacity, First Milk has developed contingency plans and is actively exploring all available options to manage the surplus milk over the coming weeks.

In related news, First Milk's CEO, Shelagh Hancock, is set to retire after a decade of leading the cooperative's transformation. Additionally, First Milk has been involved in several initiatives, including showcasing award-winning cheese at Gulfood 2026 and collaborating with Agricarbon to demonstrate early evidence of soil carbon gains under regenerative dairy farming practices.
