First Milk Announces Milk Price Reduction Effective February 2026
First Milk, a prominent dairy cooperative, announced on January 6, 2026, that it will lower its milk price by 2 pence per litre starting February 1, 2026. This adjustment will bring the price for a standard manufacturing litre, inclusive of the member premium, to 30.25 pence per litre.
According to Mike Smith, Farmer Director and Vice Chairman of First Milk, this price change is a response to the ongoing supply and demand imbalance in the dairy market. Smith emphasized that the cooperative remains committed to maximizing the value of its members' milk while acknowledging the pressure these changes place on farm businesses.
First Milk is also focusing on increasing efficiencies within its operations to enhance returns over the longer term. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to manage the financial impact on its members and ensure sustainable operations amid fluctuating market conditions.
