Fire at Meadowvale Dairy Was Extinguished Without Reported Injuries

The fire began at about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, according to Sioux County Emergency Management. It occurred at the Meadowvale Dairy farm, located northwest of Rock Valley.

Three structures were involved: a commodity shed, a mobile home and a welding shed. Emergency officials said crews contained each fire and worked to prevent the flames from spreading to additional areas of the dairy operation.

Wind conditions and the possibility of rapid fire growth led authorities to request mutual aid and additional water tankers. The response continued for several hours before the incident was completely mopped up, officials said.

The Rock Valley Fire Department received assistance from 11 other departments: Boyden, Hawarden, Hull, Ireton, Orange City, Sioux Center, Hudson, Doon, Inwood, Canton and Fairview. The response also included Rock Valley and Inwood ambulance services, the Sioux County Sheriff's Office and Sioux County Emergency Management.

No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. Officials did not provide a cause of the incident or an assessment of the damage to the three structures.
