In the field of agriculture in the Issyk-Kul region, problems arose with low purchase prices for milk, which encouraged farmers to take active measures. They went to the presidential plenipotentiary office in the region to express their dissatisfaction.

At the moment, the purchase price for milk is 26 soms per liter. Within the framework of the meeting, issues are being discussed at the plenipotentiary with the participation of representatives of government authorities and heads of dairy processing plants.

Gulzat Almerekova, head of the Ak-Tilek company, stressed that work in this direction began back in 2021.

"When the price of milk dropped to 12 soms, work was carried out and it was raised to 25 soms. Now the price of milk is 26 soms. "Today we came to solve an issue that has become a big problem for the population. About half a month ago, we collected 3,000 signatures and sent an appeal to the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiyev. Instructions were given and now we are holding round cattle," she said.

Erkingul Zharykbasheva, a delegate from farmers of Tyupsky district, added that despite the current purchase price, the cost of dairy products on the market remains high, which has a negative impact on the budgets of ordinary citizens.

"The products of enterprises are becoming more expensive every day, and the price of milk is now 26 soms. For example, a cup of ice cream is sold for 25 soms. Just imagine how much ice cream you can make from a liter of milk. And a bale of hay costs 600 soms, feed — up to 1000 soms per bag. The costs are not covered [at such purchase prices]. The population is asking for higher purchase prices," she said.
Farmers express the opinion that an acceptable price for milk should be set at 40 soms per liter.

The villagers proposed to solve the situation, as in the Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions. They also suggested updating the so-called intermediaries [buyers], replacing them with people from villages, whose candidacies will be offered by the villagers.

The possibility of joint control of the results of a laboratory study of milk fat content, collective milk supplies, and the opening of 10 points for cooling milk was discussed.

Women from among the participants of the meeting proposed to build a state milk processing plant — at the expense of the budget or funds coming from the development of the Jeruy gold deposit.

It was also proposed as an experiment to take one village and deliver milk not with the participation of 15-20 intermediaries, but one milk truck.

The May meeting of farmers at the Presidential Plenipotentiary Office in Issyk-Kul region has already become a tradition and has been held for several years in a row. The same situation was in 2022, when milk producers also expressed their complaints about low purchase prices.

In recent years, farmers in the region have been actively calling for the establishment of stable and acceptable milk prices for them, appealing to the regional authorities with appropriate requests.
