Fairfield Dairy Acquires Ladismith Cheese Amidst Regulatory Conditions

The Competition Tribunal has sanctioned the acquisition of Ladismith Cheese by Fairfield Dairy, with specific conditions to be met. This merger will place Fairfield Dairy, and its parent company, Woodlands Dairy, in control of Ladismith Cheese. The conditions set by the tribunal focus on fostering the involvement of historically disadvantaged persons, small and medium-sized enterprises, and workers.

As part of the agreement, Fairfield Dairy has pledged to enhance its spending on enterprise and supplier development initiatives. The company is a key player in the dairy industry, involved in processing and selling dairy-related products like fresh milk, yoghurt, and cheese under its First Choice brand and other private labels.

Ladismith Cheese, before this acquisition, was managed by Cape Harvest Food Group, a subsidiary of Sea Harvest Group. It specializes in producing and selling cheese, butter, and powdered milk products across various retail channels in South Africa.
