eVerse.AI Deploys Smart Collars and Methane Monitoring in India

eVerse.AI, a climate-tech startup based in Maharashtra, has used connected livestock devices and methane-monitoring equipment to address productivity and emissions in India’s dairy sector. Results cited by the company and independently validated showed that a programme involving 400 smart collars raised average monthly farmer income from Rs 4,084 to Rs 8,440 over 24 months. Milk production increased by 38.6 per cent during the same period.

Founded by Ashish Sonkusare and Vidhi Gaur in August 2022, the company operates two main platforms. ConnectedCow is an Internet of Things collar that tracks cattle health and reproductive indicators. eVerse.AI says the system can identify signs linked to heat cycles, mastitis, foot-and-mouth disease and lameness, with monitoring accuracy of more than 95 per cent.

The collar costs about Rs 5,000, according to the company, compared with more than Rs 15,000 for competing devices. eVerse.AI says the lower price is intended to improve access to livestock-monitoring technology for farmers. Its technology has been deployed through more than 30,000 devices, the company says, covering over 900,000 animals and reaching more than 200,000 farmers in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.

GreenCow, the startup’s second platform, measures methane emissions from cattle. It combines a portable methane sensor with a digital measurement, reporting and verification system. The company says the resulting data can be used to document methane reductions and convert verified emission savings into carbon credits.

eVerse.AI says it has remained bootstrapped and profitable since the 2022 financial year. Revenue rose from $47,000 to a provisional $611,000, according to the company. Its development portfolio includes five filed patents, including one for a non-contact handheld methane sensor priced below $1,000 and another for a muzzle-based cattle-identification system.

The company’s planned expansion includes the Maharashtra Methane Mission, which is intended to cover 20m animals, and a methane project with Banas Dairy. eVerse.AI also says its cattle-identification technology has been adopted for India’s national cattle identity programme, covering about 350m animals. Outside India, it is preparing a proposed expansion in New Zealand involving Fonterra and the Ministry for Primary Industries. The startup has also joined the Women in Tech Accelerator Programme run by Propel at BML Munjal University and IDEABAAZ, which is intended to support fundraising preparation, international market planning and partnerships with women-led ventures.
