EuroTier 2026 to Address Dairy Farm Biosecurity and Livestock Disease Prevention

The DLG Expert Stage: Biosecurity and Feed Safety will be located in Hall 21. It will host presentations and discussions on hygiene protocols, feed quality control, animal health monitoring and technologies for early disease detection.

Particular attention will be paid to dairy farming. DLG notes that biosecurity is essential for protecting the entire herd and reducing the risk of economic losses. The foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in January 2025 once again highlighted the importance of preventive measures on farms keeping cloven-hoofed animals.

Measures to reduce the risk of introducing infection highlighted by the organisers include maintaining housing and personnel hygiene, disinfecting vehicles and limiting unnecessary farm visits. Where possible, some in-person consultations should be replaced with remote consultations. Record-keeping and immediate reporting of suspected disease cases are also identified as important elements of prevention.

The programme will also cover other livestock sectors. In pig production, the main focus will be protection against African swine fever, while poultry sessions will address preventing the introduction and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza. Common topics will include farm access controls, cleaning and disinfection, protecting feed and water from contamination, and rodent and insect control.

The biosecurity discussions will be complemented by species-specific expert stages. Participants will include representatives from farms, research organisations, industry and advisory services.

According to DLG’s estimates, EuroTier 2026 will bring together approximately 2,100 exhibitors from 55 countries. The exhibition will occupy 13 halls.
