EnergyDecentral 2026 to Present Solar and Hybrid Energy Systems for Livestock Farms

A central feature will be the new DLG Solar Initiative + On-Farm Energy spotlight. It will focus on using farms’ land resources and existing infrastructure for energy production.

The areas most relevant to dairy and other livestock farms will include solar power generation, battery storage systems, wind energy and biogas. The organisers will pay particular attention to hybrid systems combining photovoltaic panels, energy storage and biogas plants.

These systems make it possible to manage energy production and consumption according to a farm’s load requirements. For livestock farms with a continuous need for electricity and heat, they may be relevant to the operation of milking equipment, milk cooling systems, ventilation, lighting and other infrastructure.

The specialist feature will also present practical examples of farms that have implemented their own energy projects and used them to create additional business activities.

The EnergyDecentral expert programme will cover biogas and biomethane production, photovoltaic installations, energy storage systems, heat generation from wood, and combined heat and power production. Participants will also examine project economics, decentralised energy regulation and carbon farming.

EnergyDecentral will be held concurrently with EuroTier, bringing together suppliers of livestock farming and agricultural energy solutions at the same venue. The events are organised by the German Agricultural Society, DLG.
