Emmanuel Besnier: 99% of Lactalis Products in France Made with French Milk

Addressing journalists on the issue of France's food sovereignty, Emmanuel Besnier highlighted Lactalis's strong presence in France with 70 cheese factories and dairy plants.
"We are fortunate to operate in an industry that is export-oriented. The issue of food sovereignty extends beyond implementing important national reforms. We are also a significant player in France's external trade. 99% of our French products are made with French milk. And every second liter is processed in France for export. For our industry, the concept of sovereignty is counterproductive because explaining to Italians or Germans that France should only consume French products while we can offer them French products for their national markets becomes a bit more complicated... It's about continuing to sell French goods beyond our borders," noted Emmanuel Besnier.
Commenting on the occupation and destruction of Lactalis's stand at the International Agricultural Salon in Paris, Lactalis's CEO said: "For ninety years, Lactalis has been a partner to the agricultural sector, with dairy and cheese factories located throughout France, and a significant economic impact on the territories. We are also a key player in France's external trade. For the past four years, we have been attending the agricultural fair to meet with the agricultural world and the wider public, to talk about our products, about our many professions. This is a special year, where the actions of farmers' unions have received widespread attention. Lactalis holds a worthy place at the agricultural fair, and we will continue to be present in the future to engage in dialogue with our partners."
