Kazakhstan Sees 12.6% Growth in Export of Goods to China, Reaching $14.7 Billion in 2023

To facilitate the export of processed products, the company QazTrade is organizing a trade and economic mission for Kazakhstani producers from March 19 to 21, 2024, in Chengdu, China.
Exporters will have the opportunity to establish collaborations with Chinese business partners, negotiate with importers, traders, and distributors, and discuss product deliveries, as reported by The DairyNews, citing the press service of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The mutual trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased by 30.1% in 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching $31.5 billion. The export of Kazakhstani products to China grew by 12.6%, amounting to $14.7 billion in 2023.
Chinese consumers have shown a significant demand for domestic agricultural products and food items. In 2023, Kazakhstan substantially increased the supply of sunflower oil, grains, flour, flax seeds, and by-products of cereal and legume processing, as well as cotton fiber.
The domestic livestock sector possesses substantial export potential. Last week, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported that China lifted restrictions on the supply of meat and other agricultural products from the southeastern regions of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstani producers are keen on exporting chilled meat and fish products, poultry and its by-products, pork, eggs, and other agricultural goods to the expansive Chinese market.
"Meat products are among the key imported items in China. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, China is expected to increase its beef consumption by 1.1 million tons over the next 7 years, with imports rising by 0.8 million tons," the ministry's statement said.
Last year, with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, QazTrade organized B2B meetings for Kazakhstani entrepreneurs in the cities of Xi'an, Wuhan, Urumqi, and Shanghai. Agreements were reached on the supply of oil and fat products, flour, dried camel milk, confectionery, compound feeds, and other goods to China.
This year, during the business trip to Chengdu, bilateral B2B negotiations and on-site meetings between Kazakhstani entrepreneurs and Chinese manufacturing enterprises are planned. It is noted that the Sichuan province, in particular, is interested in purchasing the following Kazakhstani products: soybeans, press cake, and other animal feed by-products, sunflower and safflower oil, among others.
