The report on the progress of the joint project of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on accelerated rail and multimodal transportation of agricultural products and food, presented at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, noted a significant increase in exports.

According to information from the Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Andrey Slepnev, the growth in the categories of grain legumes ( more than 4 times) and fat and oil products (by about 20%) is especially impressive.

The main direction of transportation within the project at the moment is China, but successful deliveries to India, Iran, the Republic of Uzbekistan have also been noted, and there are also plans to expand destinations in the UAE.

The Minister emphasized the desire to intensify efforts to remove restrictions on access to promising markets for food produced in the EAEU countries. He also highlighted the successful restart of supplies to China, limited by anti-Covid measures, including meat, poultry, milk and confectionery through Dostyk-Alashankou.

Based on the results of the meeting, the heads of government of the EAEU countries expressed support for the continuation of the project and emphasized the priority of expanding areas and increasing the volume of product exports.

Total transportation volumes in 2023 exceeded 450 thousand tons, among the key categories of cargo are oil and fat, fruits and vegetables, canned products, as well as chicken and beef."
