The EAEU and Mongolia Discuss Strengthening Veterinary Control
The first meeting of the Joint Committee on the implementation of the Temporary Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Mongolia took place as part of the II Forum of Regions of Russia and Mongolia. Participants discussed the development of cooperation in the field of veterinary and sanitary control.
The Rosselkhoznadzor reported that biological safety became a separate focus of the meeting. The parties considered issues related to veterinary affairs in the context of fulfilling the trade agreement. Other agenda items included technical regulation and customs procedures.
Participants also discussed increasing trade turnover between the parties. Among the topics was the expansion of mutual access for livestock products to the markets of the EAEU and Mongolia. The Rosselkhoznadzor report did not provide data on the current trade volume or specific lists of goods.

Special attention at the meeting was given to scientific cooperation. Experts from the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIZh", subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, visited a Mongolian biocomplex. The enterprise produces vaccines and test systems for agricultural animals.
According to the department, in the future, the Mongolian biocomplex may join major projects aimed at protecting common borders from dangerous animal infections.
