Dutch Consortium to Launch Dairy Training Center in Ethiopia

A consortium of Dutch dairy organizations, spearheaded by machinery supplier Ante BV, has revealed plans to set up a commercial service and training facility in Ethiopia. This move aims to enhance the country's domestic dairy production capacity. The initiative is backed by the Dutch government through its Impact Cluster framework, which is an international development program aimed at introducing agricultural technologies and expertise to emerging livestock sectors.

The proposed center will provide specialized technical training for smallholder dairy farmers, commercial livestock operations, and milk processors. It will feature equipment demonstrations, on-site maintenance services, and professional advisory programs. The management of domestic operations will be handled by Ante Ethiopia, a local entity. Partner organizations such as DTC International B.V. and Coöperatie Koninklijke CRV U.A. will offer technical consultancy, fodder development support, herd health management, and artificial insemination services for breed improvement.

Ante BV has stated that the institution is intended to serve as a long-term knowledge hub for Ethiopia’s dairy industry. It will facilitate technology transfer, local workforce skill development, and provide ongoing machinery repair access. This private-sector project is aligned with Ethiopia’s National Dairy Development Strategy for 2022–2031, which aims to significantly boost raw milk production and enhance supply chain efficiency in key production areas.

Market research data from IMARC Group indicates that Ethiopia’s dairy industry is projected to grow from $1.1 billion in 2025 to $1.7 billion by 2034. This growth is expected to be driven by rising urbanization and increased consumer demand for processed dairy products.
