Dr Balavardhana Rao is likely to lead Vijaya Dairy

Dr Dasari Venkata Balavardhana Rao, a former legislator from Gannavaram, is expected to be elected chairman of the Krishna District Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, known as Vijaya Dairy. He is already a director of the cooperative and has been serving as its acting chairman for several days.

The Telugu Desam Party leadership has reportedly decided to support his selection. The decision followed discussions involving Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, according to sources cited in reports.

Vijaya Dairy’s board is due to meet on September 22. Rao is expected to be elected during that meeting and to assume the organisation’s full-time chairmanship afterwards. Until the board completes the vote, he will remain acting chairman rather than the formally appointed head.

Chalasani Anjaneyulu had previously been re-elected chairman but later stepped down. His resignation followed discussions with Ministers Kolusu Parthasarathy and Kollu Ravindra, creating the vacancy that led to the new selection process.

The reported decision also involved consultations with elected representatives from the Krishna and NTR districts. Several MLAs expressed support for Rao during a video meeting with Ravindra, who is said to have subsequently informed TDP leaders and the milk union’s directors. The reports describe the support among party leaders and board members as sufficient to advance his candidacy.

Vijaya Dairy operates in the cooperative dairy sector, linking milk producers with organised procurement and related dairy activities in Krishna and neighbouring districts. After the reported selection, Rao visited Sri Lakshmi Tirupatamma Temple in Old Gannavaram, where he performed special prayers. TDP leaders and supporters also congratulated him.
