Doce Búfala Sells 2,000 Ice Creams at Fenearte
At the Fenearte fair, Doce Búfala introduced its buffalo milk ice cream, initially preparing 900 units but selling approximately 2,000 due to high demand. To meet this unexpected demand, the farm began sourcing additional milk from a neighboring buffalo farmer.
The success at Fenearte prompted the farm to accelerate planned investments. Currently, they have invested BRL 100,000 in purchasing five additional buffaloes, which will increase their herd from five to ten animals, and in upgrading their production facilities.
The farm's ice cream production capacity now stands at about 40 liters per day, with potential for further expansion as milk supply increases. Beyond sales during farm visits, Doce Búfala is exploring partnerships with retailers and distributors to reach markets in Recife. They also plan to participate in culinary fairs in urban parks to appeal to city consumers.
Doce Búfala’s owner, Alfredo Neto, previously launched the Alteva chocolate brand, which follows a 'tree to bar' production model, handling all stages from cacao cultivation to final product manufacturing. This experience laid the groundwork for transforming buffalo milk into a higher-value product.
