Danone's $9.6 Billion Boost to the U.S. Dairy Economy

Danone USA has released its first comprehensive U.S. Economic Impact Study, highlighting a $9.6 billion contribution to the domestic economy expected to culminate by 2025. This study underscores the company's commitment to reinforcing American manufacturing zones and local farming communities.

A significant aspect of Danone's economic influence stems from its procurement strategy within the U.S. agricultural sector. The company sources approximately 90% of its functional ingredients domestically. In the fiscal year 2025 alone, Danone purchased around 200 million gallons of milk from American dairy farms across states including Kansas, Utah, Idaho, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin, boosting regional economic growth.

Beyond raw material sourcing, Danone's operations act as a major employment generator within the agricultural value chain. As one of the largest Certified B Corporations globally, Danone employs over 5,000 people across its research, corporate, and processing facilities. The study reveals that each internal job supports nearly three additional positions in related sectors, culminating in about 22,000 jobs in 2025.

The company's economic impact is further bolstered by substantial investments in its production infrastructure. Over the past decade, Danone has invested billions in constructing and modernizing more than 10 specialized manufacturing facilities. These facilities enable the company to convert nutrition science into innovative products like the high-protein OIKOS Fusion line, meeting consumer health demands.

Danone is also committed to enhancing sustainability metrics at the farm level through capital partnerships with family farms. By investing in regenerative agriculture practices, Danone is helping farms improve soil health and productivity, ensuring a resilient supply chain. This approach not only supports the operational stability of independent dairies but also guarantees the quality of ingredients for Danone's products.
