However, the farm will remain in the family as four of Jerry Dakin's nephews have committed to taking over operations.

Owned and operated by Jerry Dakin for over 20 years, Dakin Dairy Farm has been a staple in the community. The new ownership team, comprised of Jason, Garrett, Grant, and Ethan Dakin, was announced via a Facebook post. Jerry Dakin expressed his enthusiasm for the transition, stating, "I'm not going anywhere but I'm happy to see the next generation of farmers dedicated to growing agriculture in our community, our state, and our country. The Dakins see this as a win-win for the farm and the community."

The 350-acre farm, home to approximately 3,000 cattle, includes a dairy processing plant and a farm store selling milk and cheese. It has also been a popular agritourism destination, frequently hosting school field trips.

In 2022, Dakin Dairy Farm was severely impacted by Hurricane Ian, which killed over 200 cows, destroyed three open-air shelters, and damaged the roofs of five barns. Despite these setbacks, Jerry Dakin confirmed in November that repairs have been completed.

The new generation plans to leverage advanced technologies to expand Dakin Dairy's product line, ensuring the farm's growth and sustainability. This transition marks a new chapter for Dakin Dairy Farm, reinforcing its commitment to the community and the future of agriculture.
