Dairy Management Inc. Launches Database for Grant Opportunities
Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) has launched a new online tool aimed at simplifying the process for dairy farmers looking to secure grants and funding for various projects. The platform, known as the Funding Opportunities Database, is part of the Dairy Conservation Navigator. It organizes diverse funding programs into a single, searchable resource tailored specifically to dairy operations.
The tool provides a comprehensive overview of available grants by allowing users to search by state or county and filter by specific areas such as manure management, energy, cropland, water quality, or business development. It also categorizes programs by their current status, whether they are open, upcoming, or recently closed, which aids in planning for future funding cycles.
Bridgett Hilshey, the senior director of environmental stewardship at DMI, highlighted the challenges dairy farmers face in managing integrated systems of livestock, cropland, and energy use, stating that the database could help streamline the identification of suitable funding opportunities. DMI's Jacqi Coleman also emphasized the importance of improving access to funding, noting that the new platform helps connect farmers with the resources necessary for project advancement.
Dairy Management Inc. is supported by over 24,000 dairy farmers and importers and works to enhance dairy sales domestically and globally through various initiatives. This new tool represents part of DMI's ongoing efforts to foster environmental sustainability within the dairy industry.
