The Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveals notable shifts in producer prices across various sectors, highlighting a 22.0% increase in dairy product prices over the past year.

The latest data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) presents a comprehensive overview of producer price changes as of April 2025. Dairy products experienced a substantial rise, with a 22.0% increase in producer prices over the 12 months leading to April 2025. In contrast, overall food product prices saw a smaller rise of 5.1%.
Meat and meat product prices also rose by 7.3%, indicating a trend of increased costs across various food sectors. However, prices for vegetables and animal oils and fats saw a significant decline of 16.2%. Additionally, Deirdre Toher from the CSO's prices division noted a decline in wholesale price inflation, with a 1.4% decrease in the overall producer price Index for manufacturing industries. Export sales producer prices were down by 1.6% since March 2025, while domestic market producer prices increased by 0.9% compared to April 2024.
The report highlights a dramatic 71.3% decrease in wholesale electricity prices from the peak in August 2022, although they remained 25.6% higher than the previous year. Energy fuel prices overall fell by 0.8% in April 2025 and by 9.1% over the year. In construction, April 2025 saw a modest increase in wholesale prices by 0.2%, while the yearly increase since April 2024 was 1.0%. Specific construction materials showed varied changes, with all other metal fittings up by 7.4% and reinforcing metal prices down by 7.4%.
