Credit Program Boosts Dairy Farming in Santa Catarina with $108 Million
In Santa Catarina, a credit program specifically designed for dairy producers has successfully distributed R$ 108 million within a 90-day period. The program, operated by the Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul (BRDE) in partnership with the Secretaria de Estado da Agricultura e Pecuária (Sape), is part of the Pronampe Leite BRDE/SC initiative. This financial support tool addresses the ongoing need for capital among local producers, responding to current market challenges.
The amount of credit available to each producer is determined by the size of their herd, with a cap of R$ 1,000 per dairy cow and a maximum of R$ 50,000 per producer. Eligibility for these funds requires producers to have their herds registered with Cidasc and to demonstrate their involvement in the dairy trade, including the sale of milk in 2025. Necessary documentation includes a Sigen + Cidasc report, which must be issued no more than 30 days prior, verifying the number of dairy cows and female cattle aged 25 months or more. Additionally, producers must provide an invoice for milk sales in 2025.
For cooperative farms, the program imposes an additional requirement: a declaration that only one credit operation will be conducted per cooperative through this program. This stipulation ensures that resources are equitably distributed among collective farming entities.
The program's early success indicates a strong demand for credit among dairy farmers as they navigate the complexities of the current economic environment. This initiative is seen as a crucial step in providing the necessary financial resources to sustain and enhance dairy production in the region.
The Pronampe Leite BRDE/SC credit line represents an effort to strengthen the local dairy industry by offering tailored financial solutions that align with the scale of operations at individual farms. By doing so, the program aims to bolster the overall economic stability and growth potential of the dairy sector in Santa Catarina.
