Costco Canada Recalls Milk Due to Sanitizer Contamination Risk

Costco Canada has announced a recall of its Kirkland Signature brand Organic 1% Partly Skimmed Milk. The recall involves products sold in a commercial multi-pack format consisting of three 1-litre cartons. These products carry a best-before date of July 12, 2026, and are marked with the plant registration code 1490.

The recall was initiated following the discovery of a potential contamination issue involving residual food-grade sanitizer. This contamination is believed to have occurred due to an operational anomaly in the sanitization process of the milk processing line. Such contamination can lead to symptoms such as gastrointestinal distress, burning sensations, or nausea if consumed.

The distribution of the affected milk was concentrated across retail warehouses in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Despite the recall, there have been no officially verified reports of illnesses or adverse medical events linked to the consumption of the affected milk.

In response to this issue, Costco Canada has updated its membership networks to inform consumers who purchased the specific lot of organic milk to cease consumption immediately. Customers are advised to return the products to local warehouses, where full corporate refunds are being authorized by retail managers.

The processing cooperative and federal inspectors have acted swiftly to isolate the compromised inventory to prevent any health risks to consumers.
