Consumers Eligible for Compensation in Silk Beverage Settlement
Consumers who purchased or consumed certain recalled Silk plant-based beverages may now be eligible for compensation under a recently approved class-action settlement. The settlement follows a listeria outbreak that led to the hospitalization of five individuals. Affected consumers can file claims for up to $300,000 as part of this settlement.
The claims process officially began on Friday, June 19, and consumers have until October 16 at 11:59 p.m. to submit their claims. The settlement aims to provide financial restitution to those impacted by the listeria contamination of Silk beverages.
The recall involved various Silk products, which were distributed with both English and French labeling. These products were pulled from the market following the outbreak, and the settlement has been designed to address the financial and health impacts experienced by consumers.
Claimants will need to provide proof of purchase or consumption of the affected products to be eligible for compensation. The settlement notice outlines the necessary steps and documentation required to successfully file a claim.
This settlement underscores the legal and health implications of food safety issues, highlighting the importance of regulatory oversight and consumer protection in the food and beverage industry.
