Conaprole Navigates Market Uncertainty Amid Brazil Dumping Investigation

Conaprole, a leading Uruguayan dairy cooperative, is working to maintain the current price paid to producers until the end of its fiscal year on July 31, 2024. This decision comes amidst dual challenges: an ongoing investigation into alleged dumping practices in Brazil and the opening of new markets such as Indonesia.

According to Juan Parra, the director of Conaprole, the cooperative is taking a cautious approach, aiming to preserve current price levels rather than increasing the base price. He emphasized that any price adjustment would depend on commercial performance during the upcoming spring season. The strategy is to avoid financial commitments without a solid commercial backing.

Brazil's investigation into alleged dumping by Uruguayan exporters is a significant concern for Conaprole. Parra noted that the outcome of this investigation could substantially impact the cooperative's commercial environment in the short term.

Simultaneously, Conaprole is exploring market diversification opportunities. Indonesia has recently emerged as a potential market following its approval as a destination for Conaprole's products. Although the Indonesian market is price-sensitive, its inclusion in Conaprole's strategy represents an effort to broaden commercial alternatives amid regional uncertainties.

On the international front, Conaprole has observed positive trends, with recent improvements noted in the Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Pulse. Despite these favorable conditions, the cooperative maintains a focus on operational caution and commercial security.
