COFCO to Deliver 1.5 Million Tons of Sustainable Brazilian Soy to Chinese Dairy Firms

Strengthening Sustainability Commitments
Under the agreement, all supplied soybeans will undergo third-party verification to ensure they are free from deforestation and natural vegetation conversion, aligning with stringent environmental standards. COFCO has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable sourcing by maintaining strict oversight of its supply chain, with on-site farm audits beginning in December 2020.
COFCO’s Expanding Role in the Soy Trade
As Brazil's fourth-largest soy exporter to China in 2024, COFCO shipped approximately 6.65 million tons of soybeans to the Chinese market. This latest agreement underscores the company's efforts to eliminate deforestation from its soy and corn supply chains by 2025, reinforcing its position as a key player in sustainable agricultural trade.
Brazil’s Dominance in Soy Exports to China
Brazil, the world’s largest soybean producer and exporter, continues to be a critical supplier to China. The majority of Brazilian soy exports are used for animal feed and oil production, playing an essential role in supporting the country’s dairy and livestock industries.
This partnership between COFCO and China's leading dairy firms represents a major step towards ensuring a more sustainable agricultural future, aligning with global environmental and supply chain transparency initiatives.
