Chobani introduces limited-edition ube coffee creamer in the US
Chobani has added a new offering to its line of products with the release of a limited-edition Ube Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer in the United States. The creamer, priced at $7.49, combines ube—a purple yam popular in Filipino cuisine—with milk, cream, and cane sugar, delivering a subtly sweet and nutty flavor. Importantly, the product contains no artificial flavors, colors from artificial sources, or hydrogenated oils.
The development process for this creamer involved Chobani's research and development team consulting with Filipino employees to gain insights into traditional ube flavors. Nina Felix, Chobani's senior director of supply chain optimization, shared her experience of advising the team by listing various ube desserts and products, such as ube macapuno ice cream, which influenced the creamer's flavor profile. Felix remarked on how the final product evoked memories of traditional Filipino street food.
For the packaging, Chobani collaborated with Patricia Doria, a Manila-based artist known for her airbrush style, to create three Halloween-themed designs that incorporated vivid colors. The intention behind this design is to introduce consumers who may not be familiar with ube to its cultural origins and proper pronunciation.
The Ube Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer will be distributed to retailers across the country, broadening the range of flavors available to consumers seeking new and unique coffee additions.
