Chilelácteo 2026: Showcasing Chile's Best Artisan Cheeses

The Chilelácteo 2026 event, scheduled for June 17 and 18, will feature the 'Encuentro Quesos' competition, aimed at recognizing and evaluating the finest artisan cheeses in Chile. This event will take place at the Hotel Sonesta in Osorno, bringing together producers, specialists, cheese makers, and key figures in the dairy industry to highlight the quality of products crafted across various regions of Chile.

Producers interested in participating can register their products through the official Encuentro Quesos website. Each entry requires a QR code for identification during evaluation. The registration fee is set at CLP 40,000 for one or two cheeses, with an additional cost of CLP 10,000 for each extra product. Samples must be sent to INIA Remehue in Osorno by June 14 for analysis.

Organizers emphasize the importance of proper packaging: each cheese must be securely sealed and have its QR code visible to ensure traceability and correct identification throughout the competition.

Beyond awarding medals or recognitions, Encuentro Quesos aims to serve as a tool for improvement for producers. Participants will receive a confidential technical and sensory evaluation of their products, providing insights into strengths, areas for improvement, and essential aspects for further development of their cheese offerings.

This initiative also strives to strengthen the cheese-making craft, showcase the diversity of national cheeses, and promote a category gaining recognition both within Chile and internationally. The 2026 edition is organized by Encuentro Quesos, with participation from AQA Chile, Agrollanquihue, and Fedeleche, and support from institutions like INIA, ProChile, the Government of the Los Lagos Region, and CORE Los Lagos.

With this new call, the Chilean cheese sector has another opportunity to demonstrate the quality of its products and gauge its performance against industry specialists and leaders.
