Chilean Milk Production Sees an 8.3% Boost in 2025

The Chilean dairy industry is experiencing a significant upswing as milk production soared by 8.3% in the first four months of 2025, according to data from Fedeleche and Odepa. This increase translates to an additional 58.6 million liters, bringing the total output to 766.8 million liters from January to April. The regions of Los Lagos and Los Ríos have been instrumental in this surge, collectively accounting for more than 80% of the national production.
Los Lagos showed a robust increase of 10.6%, boosting output to 359.8 million liters, which constitutes 46.9% of the national total. Similarly, Los Ríos witnessed a growth of 9.3%, reaching 283.2 million liters, or 36.9% of Chile's overall production. Together, these southern regions contributed to 83.8% of the country's milk production.
In April alone, production escalated by 9.4% year-on-year, achieving 185.0 million liters. Within this month, Los Ríos led with a remarkable 13.8% increase, while Los Lagos saw a 9.4% rise in production. However, Biobío was the outlier with a 5.8% decline.
This consistent growth highlights the strategic importance of strengthening regional competitiveness to enhance the sustainability and productivity of the Chilean dairy sector. The southern production corridors, therefore, remain pivotal to national development.
